Dock design and installation. Without the fuss.

At Hutten, our goal is to make choosing, installing and caring for your dock as quick, painless and simple of a process as possible. These are the steps you can expect to go through as we design and build the best dock for your shoreline — and budget.

1

Tell us what you’re looking for.

Whether over the phone, by email or through our online form, tell us more about your ideal docking system's size and scope.

If you didn’t call us, we’ll call you. During this first call, it’s important for us to identify:

  • Your vision for the dock and how it suits your lifestyle.
  • How you plan to use it and what functions it needs to serve.
  • If you have any watercraft.
  • What type of shoreline you have, including water depth and conditions.

We then combine this information with any photos you send us as well as satellite imagery. When we put it all together, we can give you a fairly accurate quote and proposal for our first in-person meeting.

2

Visit our office for an in-person meeting.

When your initial proposal is ready, you’ll be invited to review it with one of our dock experts at our office in Owen Sound. Here, you can see, touch and feel our dock displays, getting a better idea of the materials and features you’d like for yours.

With your go-ahead, our team then starts on a polished layout and design, which includes a detailed sketch alongside product and accessory specifications.

3

Approve a final design.

You’ll have a chance to approve our final design before we get to work installing it. You also have the option of installing the dock yourself.

At this point, a clear timeline for the installation — and assembly, if you have a custom order — of your docking system is given. A 50% payment is due upon order, with the remaining balance due upon the completed assembly of your order.

4

Watch as we install… or do it yourself!

This step is straightforward — our team will deliver, unload and install your docking system and adjust it so that it’s well-positioned for your shore’s water level. All accessories will also be installed. Again, you will have the option of doing it yourself.

If a boat lift is a part of the service work provided, bunks will be installed but not set — unless the watercraft and owner are present to operate the watercraft. If the owner and watercraft cannot be present, a return visit will be arranged, or we will provide you with instructions.

5

Sign up for yearly dock servicing & maintenance.

Depending on your proposal, you may or may not have signed a yearly or multi-year service contract. Payment and invoicing terms are outlined in your contract. Dock servicing includes:

  • Spring installations & fall removals
  • Raising & lowering dock as needed
  • Fully equipped crews
  • Fast storm response

If you opted out of service, your dock proposal includes a user manual with detailed instructions on how to care for the dock yourself.
